JOB SUMMARY
 
Camp Hapitok is a unique residential summer camp for children ages 6-11 with communication disorders that live in San Luis Obispo County. The Speech Pathologist has a caseload of only 7-10 children between the ages of 6 and 11 whose primary disability is a speech, language, or hearing disorder. The Speech Pathologist manages the child’s therapeutic program at the camp by developing daily goals and providing daily therapy sessions. The SLP meets daily with their assigned group (therapy family) to review the day’s activities, plan campfires skits, and have fun. The SLP works with the each child’s teen buddy to ensure daily goals are reinforce during the day’s activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to see real progress in the children, work with dedicated teen volunteers, and enjoy the great outdoors on the Central Coast of California.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Required:
1. Valid California teaching credential authorizing Communication Handicapped Services or equivalent.
2. Valid driver’s license.
3. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
 
Desirable:
1. Speech/language therapy experience.
2. Experience with elementary through high school age children.
3. Love of outdoors and experience with camps.
