Overnight Intern
DESCRIPTION
Camp Hapitok is a fun residential summer camp for 6 to 11 year old children with communication disorders who live in San Luis Obispo County. The Overnight Intern is on duty for one day of orientation and 18 nights from 12:00 AM to 9:00 AM, Tuesday through Friday. Camp dates are from June 24 to July 25. July 4 is a holiday.
Job duties include:
Monitoring the camp at night,
Providing assistance to campers and teen volunteers at night as needed including trips to the bathroom.
Assisting in preparing instructional materials and activities for the next day.
Provide for safety of all camp participants at night.
Update the website nightly with camp photos
Lookout for the morning fishing program
Complete log as needed
Assists at breakfast.
Provides assistance in an emergency.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
The overnight Intern has the opportunity to participate in morning instructional activities if desired.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School diploma plus college level coursework in child development and education.
Experience working with children, ages 6-18.
Valid California driver’s license.
Valid first aid and CPR certificates
Desirable:
Experience working with children who have communication disorders.
Experience working in a residential camp setting.
Knowledge of sign language.
Experience in leadership roles.
Salary:
An $875 stipend is provided by the Friends of Hapitok. Room and board are available Monday- Friday noon.
