Evening Activities Intern

 
DESCRIPTION
Camp Hapitok is a unique residential summer camp for 6 to 11 year old children with communication disorders who live in San Luis Obispo County. Teens volunteer their time to be one-to-one buddies for each camper and participate in all activities with their special child. Two Intern positions are available. One male is needed for the evenings to help with boy’s showers and bedtime. 
These internships are excellent opportunities for those interested in pursuing careers in the education or careers related to working with children who have special needs. 
 
DUTY DATES
Monday, July 25:  8AM - 5PM
Tuesday – Thursday, June 26 – June 28
Monday – Thursday, July 02 – July 27 (Monday – Thursday)
July 3 and July 4 are off days for this position.
 
DUTY HOURS 
Intern One: 3:15pm to 10:00pm
Intern Two: 3:15pm to Midnight
Total duty days: 18
 
JOB DUTIES
Assist staff with:
         Group activities
         Supervision of dinner hour and free time
         Evening Fishing Program
         Camper bedtime
         Other duties as needed
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School diploma plus college level coursework in child development and education.
Experience working with children, ages 6-18.
Valid California driver’s license.
 
Desirable:
Experience working with children who have communication disorders.
Experience working in a residential camp setting.
Experience in leadership roles.
Valid first aid and CPR certificates
 
STIPEND:
Intern One: $500 stipend is provided by the Friends of Hapitok. Room and board are available Monday- Friday noon. 
Intern Two: $675 stipend is provided by the Friends of Hapitok. Room and board are available Monday- Friday noon.
